The Secret Swan Society holds weekly meetings at the Pines Community Center in Tilton, NH Thursday nights at 7pm. Join us for discussions concerning upcoming events like Masquerade Balls, Murder Mystery Dinners, Winter Caroling, large Steampunk events close in New Hampshire, as well as just friendly chatter about your week.
Mission Statement:
It is the mission of the Secret Swan Society, as a self sustaining society, to nurture a common interest in the Steampunk genre among members of the Steampunk and local community through civic service and the preservation of historical landmarks.
Steampunk is the creative re-imagining of historical events and setting through the use of Science Fiction. Just like the works of H.G.Wells and Jules Verne (the original Science Fiction masters) the setting may be in the past but the technology and themes may look more futuristic. Steampunk also deals with the positive aspect of life, looking at large technologies always with the hope that they will bring us a bigger, more connected world for piece. Looking at Pirates as they will rise to the challenge for the good of all if needed. Looking at the Apocalypse as a chance for humanity to start over and rebuild after the feeling of total loss. These themes are shown through Steampunk interactions, art, film, video games, and the events favored by all Steampunks.
Future events include an annual Masquerade Ball, Town-Wide Scavanger hunts, discussions of books, music, movies, and wardrobe, Steampunk Teas, Murder Mystery dinners and evenings, fellowship and meetings with local stars (from authors to reenacting groups to theater troupes).
